- Maintaining personal safety
- Being alert for aftershocks (and what to expect)
- Evacuating to high ground or inland, if shaking is felt near the coastline or an official tsunami warning is issued)
- Communicating and staying informed
- Helping the injured
- Preventing further injuries or damage
